Col de Portet d'Aspet (East side) par Audressein

Video start from Audressein to Saint Lary when the uphill starts. Col de Portet d'Aspet is one of the classic Tour de France climbs in the Ariège Pyrenees, having been used over thirty times in the race. Since its first appearance in 1910, some of the greats of cycling have led the peloton over the summit, including Gino Bartali and Federico Bahamontes.
The climb from Audressein is a long and gentle ascent with no real difficulties for most cyclists. It is a pleasant climb through typically green and forested Ariège scenery, but the views are not the most spectacular in the Pyrenees.
The descent is crazy. Through shaded woods, tight hairpins, and two stretches signed at 17%, it was near the bottom that Fabio Casartelli was tragically killed in a crash in the 1995 Tour de France.
At Pont de l’Oule, the climb begins for Col de Menté. It has appeared 15 times in the Tour de France, debuting in 1966.
Start counting your hairpins (19 in total) while, after a difficult first kilometer, the climb keeps going up steadily at about 8%. At the last hundreds of meters, you get a 11% piece. But so close to the top, that won"t hurt you anymore.
the Col de Menté ascent is 10.9 km long. Over this distance, you climb 716 heightmeters. The average percentage thus is 6.6 %. The maximum slope is 9 %.
From the top we go down the steep descent to Saint Beat, running the last easy kilometers for muscle relaxation. Video ends to the cute town of Cier-de-Luchon.
