Monte Bondone is one of "The" climbs of cycling: more than 19 km long, with a gain of 1428 hm, an average slope of 7.4% and max slope of 11.5%. Bondone has international fame thanks to the epic ride of the great climber Charly Gaul that in the 1956 challenged an impossible snowstorm to win the stage which ultimately decided the Giro d'Italia that year (see video on this page). Turning your own pedals, the same effort is unchanged and the Monte Bondone invites you to test yourself. The road that crosses Bondone is the "SP85 of Monte Bondone" (famous for some mythical stages of the Giro d'Italia and historic car race "Trento-Bondone") running from Montevideo up the northern slopes of Bondone to Viote through Sardagna (565 m), Candriai (960 m, Vaneze (1300 m) and Vason (1650 m). From Viote the SP85 continues down along the western slopes of Mount Bondone through Lagolo (930 m) and ends in Val di Cavedine.

Videocorsa cult che parte dal placido fondovalle sulla destra Adige fuori Rovereto per risalire fino a Trento, dove Bikelab ci fa attraversare la città fin sotto le mura dell’imperdibile Castello del Buonconsiglio. In pochi minuti si arriva all’attacco del M.te Bondone, ca. 20 km di salita ma mai impossibile (si tocca il 12,9% per pochi secondi) attraverso i paesi di Sardagna, Candriai, Vaneze fino a scollinare ai 1650 mt del Vason, che negli inverni più nevosi si lasciava per scendere all’incontrario la medesima strada con gli sci ai piedi fino a Trento, 1450 metri più in basso. Lungo il percorso si intravede oltre alla valle verso Bolzano anche la 2° montagna dei Trentini – la Paganella – e dietro, le spettacolari Dolomiti di Brenta. Il percorso è un continuo variare di boschi e alpeggi che costeggiano le piste da sci fino all’ampio pianoro delle Viote amato dai praticanti lo sci di fondo, da dove ci si getta a capofitto lungo la stretta e tortuosa strada di Garniga.
